Yvonne Weldon to Join Forces with NITV and SBS during Week-Long Celebration of NAIDOC 2021

The National Indigenous Television (NITV) is inviting all Australians to enjoy a wide range of content that will be shown on across the SBS network for NAIDOC Week, which will take place between 4 July to the 11 July.

Inspired by the theme Heal Country!, the week long programming event will celebrate the cultural contributions and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while also raising greater awareness of the need to protect Australia's landscape from continued exploitation and destruction.

As part of the programming, proud Wiradjuri woman and community leader Yvonne Weldon will be starring alongside Shari Sebbens, Matty Mills, Sani Townson within the immersive experience The Wake, where the storytellers will share their authentic memories and experiences. Directed by Adrian Wills and produced by Anusha DurayThe Wake is an exploration of the issues facing Indigenous people from a variety of backgrounds, touching on the themes of birth, death and love. The installation invites you to share the deeply personal and vivid recollections of these four writer-performers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.

The interactive exhibit will be on display at the Tandanya National Aboriginal Art Gallery in Adelaide and Charles Perkins House in Canberra throughout NAIDOC week. We look forward to tuning in.
