Yvonne is leading a team of independent candidates with a shared vision for a green, vibrant and inclusive city humming with opportunity, equally accessible to all.

Rod Morrison

Rod is a born-and-bred Sydneysider. A long-time resident of Annandale, Forest Lodge, Rushcutters Bay, and Kings Cross, he now lives in Chippendale with his wife, Tegan.

A book editor and publisher, Rod worked for multinationals such as HarperCollins and Pan Macmillan before co-founding his own independent company, Brio Books.

A champion of excellence and innovation, Rod has worked with several award-winning and literary and Indigenous writers. In recent years, he has combined consultancy and pro-bono work with teaching postgraduate students at the University of Sydney.

Rod loves Sydney but he also sees room for improvement, particularly regarding the amenity and accessibility of our parks and gardens, the provision of services for the homeless, the efficacy of our recycling services, and the lack of support for high street small business.

His desire to effect positive change – to elevate the City and make it cleaner, more liveable and more vibrant – has driven his decision to run for Council.

Daniel McDonald

Daniel is a proud Wonnarua man, a Paddington and Darlinghurst local, an emerging visual artist, and a disability advocate.

Daniel is deaf and communicates with sign language. He is the founder of Deadly Hand Talk which combines his artistic pursuits and disability rights advocacy. He also serves as a member of the City of Sydney’s Inclusion Advisory Panel and works as a Deaf Advocate at First Peoples’ Disability.

Navigating life as a LGBTQ+ Indigenous man with a disability, Daniel is committed to breaking down barriers for those who face intersectional discrimination and disadvantage. He is also dedicated to amplifying the voices of people with disabilities in the creative and cultural sectors.

A champion for public transport, accessible green spaces, and inclusive communities, Daniel seeks to enhance Sydney for everyone, particularly those with disabilities.

He’s proud that many of his neighbours have picked up some Auslan from him.

Alison Davey

Alison went to school at SCEGGS Darlinghurst, studied at UTS and has lived in Rushcutters Bay, Darlinghurst and now Chippendale.

She began her career in the Northern Territory, went on to work in finance for Westpac and JBWere and later established a boat dealership from scratch.

Alison now owns and runs a car parts business in Alexandria with her partner, Richard. In her spare time, she volunteers at Radio 2RPH (Radio for the Print Handicapped) in Glebe.

Alison loves the inner city community but is concerned about the maintenance of vital community infrastructure and the proliferation of share bikes discarded on footpaths.

She was motivated to run for Council following several unsuccessful attempts to have the City of Sydney repair the escalators and lift at Railway Square (which have been out of order for more than 3 years!).

Murray Gatt

Hailing from the Blue Mountains, Murray moved to Darlington six years ago to study at the University of Sydney. He now rents in Chippendale with his partner, Gonzalo.

Murray is an Arts/Law graduate and works in social policy. To date, his work has focused on criminal justice system reform, combating domestic and family violence and elevating youth voices.

Murray is passionate about making sure the City of Sydney is a sustainable, inclusive and affordable place for everyone who calls it home, especially young people and families.

He would like to see more affordable housing in the city and expanded accommodation services for people experiencing homelessness or violence.

Murray volunteered to help get Yvonne elected as the City of Sydney’s first Aboriginal councillor. He proudly supports her vision and leadership.
