Karen Freyer

Karen is a social entrepreneur. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School (MBA) and Columbia Graduate School of Journalism (MSc). Karen worked for the BBC, CNN and CBS News - 60 Minutes before transitioning first to the corporate world and then the social sector.

Before taking time off to have children -- Karen created and ran a social enterprise in the UK that helped long-term unemployed young adults find jobs in the creative sector. The organisation began life as an article in the New Statesman magazine; Karen was responsible for turning the idea into a viable enterprise, which she did by securing two large government contracts within the organisation's first year of formation and convincing over 50 cultural organisations such as BAFTA, The Royal Opera House and The Southbank Centre to broaden their recruitment policies and hire people on benefits.
